WELCOME TO THE
ALGERNON TRUST
The
Sanctuary was established by Jane Shepherd in
February 1991 in Whittlebury, Northamptonshire. It started with just five London feral cats, a rabbit and one fox - Algy, but grew rapidly with the intake of local ferals and Chessie, a one-eyed vixen cub from Essex. The Sanctuary was initially funded by Jane entirely from her personal income and in August 2001, after her funds were completely exhausted and closure was imminent, the Sanctuary went public and so the Algernon Trust was born, named after Algy the first fox Jane rescued. |
